I have been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma in my neck and have a follow up with an ENT on Feb 8th. Based on the results, I am concerned this is too long to wait. Please advise. The results of the biopsy were; Gross Description Three ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration biopsies were performed by John Santor with three air-dried slides, three fixed slides and 30 cc cloudy blood tinged CytoLyt fluid received. One ThinPrep slide and a cell block (A3) are made from the fluid. Two core biopsies were also performed, consisting of cylindrical fragments of tan soft tissue ranging from 0.1 to 0.5 cm in length with a width of 0.1 cm. Fixed in formalin and entirely submitted in cassettes A1 and A2. General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The squamous cell carcinoma management is best with surgery of wide excision of the lesion with surround 5 mm free margin of the normal skin; Mahos surgery with per op frozen sections of surrounding skin layers to preserve functional tissue to best extent. However, in operable cases may require local 5 fluorouracil therapy or laser in selected ones. Would like to readdress the issue with further details of fitness from anesthetic point of view and a high resolution photograph of the lesion.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
