Suggest Treatment For Spinal Stenosis

I have spinal stenosis and may have to have surgery. Have been having PT which has helped, but I still often have pain which causes nausea. My question, after searching the internet, is what kind of non-narcotic pain killer can I use after surgery? I am highly allergic to codeine and other types of narcotic drugs. A friend just had this surgery and said even after taking 4 codeine pills per day, she was in a lot of pain. If I do have the surgery, I am just trying to plan ahead. Thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

You can consider analgesics like gabapentin which will provide long term pain relief, and there will not be any allergic issues as well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
