Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
thank you. i have a grade 1 L4-L5 anteriolisthesis and severe spinal cord stensois and moderate/severe bilateral foraminal stenosis. I was first diagnosed with spondylolitheses about 20 years ago. After a steroid epidural at that time I have been relatively pain and symptom free until about three weeks ago. Now it is very debilitating and painful. I am in the process of getting it worked up. I was looking to see more about the grading system. Couldn t find much to answer questions. How many grades are there? Is a grade 1 the least or most severe, etc. Which is my bigger problem, the spondy or the stenosis? i really hope I don t need to have surgery. Thank you. sorry, never mind. please do not proceed...i didn t realize there was a charge for this. thanks anyway. goodbye.
There is no grading system and the severity is based on the symptoms. Most of the cases can be managed by analgesics (painkillers) and epidural shot. In severe cases, surgery will be the only option. Consult a neurosurgeon and he will direct you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
