Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat Causing Pain While Swallowing

I have had pain on the right side of my throat, it is very painful to swallow. It sort of feels like i was punched or badly bruised. It has been 3 days now and its not getting any better. I went to a clinic today and it s not strep, it was diagnosed as pharangitis (sp?). I have been gargling with hot salt water, drinking pau d arco and various herbal teas, I have cll, I have inflamation in my lymph nodes sometimes, but I don t think they are enlarged at this time, one might not have anything to do with the other. The pain on a scale of 1-10 is probably an 8 and I m having trouble sleeping due to the discomfort. any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank You GayAnn

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
From history it seems that you might be having acute grannular pharyngitis giving this problem.
You might require one course of antibiotic medicine like Amoxicilin or Azithromicin course for 5 days.
Take ibuprofen for pain and inflammation for 2-3 days.
Avoid cold drinks, fried, chillies and junk food.
Ok and take care.
