Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Swollen Glands

I work in the medical field and I did a rapid strep today which was negative. I have had a very sore throat and swollen glands for about a week. Some sinus drainage but not enough to cause this type of pain. My throat has red (like bleeding under the skin looking)blotches in the back of my throat and going up to the roof of my mouth. No blisters, pus pockets, white patches. It seems viral to me.

Hello

Yes it is likely that you may be having a viral infection although i would like to examine you first. Please meet your ent doctor , he will take a throat swab and send it for culture, to see what organism is causing the infection. Once that is known , you can be treated accordingly.

Take care
