Suggest Treatment For Sore Lungs Post Chest Infection
I have shingles, my heart is racing but ok. I have sore lungs for the last 3 months after a bad chest infection. I am a 39 yr old female. My immune system seems to have taken a nose dive. I also have hamochromatosis. I am getting plenty of rest and I eat well.
Post lung infection pain may last for 1 week to 3 months with additional symptoms include cough, shortness of breath and fatigue. But the symptoms will be reduced from time to time. Shingles is a viral infection that causes pain in your affected area after infection too. Pain is usually the first symptom of shingles.
Depending on the location of the pain, it can sometimes be mistaken for a symptom of problems affecting the heart, lungs etc. You can treat with prescription antiviral drugs for shingles because it can help the speed of healing and reduce your risk of complications. You can try anti-convulsants such as Gabapentin that can help your pain. If not improve you may need to rule out other cause of chest pain.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Heang Chan Raksmey, General & Family Physician
