Suggest Treatment For Small Pus Filled Lesions At My Tonsils, Ear Irritation, Greyish Tongue Discoloration And Bad Breath

Hi, I have noticed what I can t tell is an infection or tonsil trauma. I fear HSV 1. Two smaller pits on my tonsils have a red lining and tiny amount of pus, as if scratched. I ve noticed my ears have been irritated and bad breath so I m hoping thrush over herpes. But the bad breath went away with brushing tongue. Grayish tint to tongue. White spot beneath skin (like acne almost) at back of throat. Not painful. No kissing/sexual contact in 2 years. Likely not diphtheria given flu-like symptoms and no throat pain. Frequent thirst and diarrhea last few days. Negative for tonsil stones. Really concerned about this.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You have pus filled lesions at your tonsils. You also have greyish tongue and bad breath. There is also ear irritation. The report is negative for tonsil stones. Since you have white spot at the back of the throat, it is indicative of pharyngitis, strep throat, mononucleosis, sexually transmitted diseases like oral herpes, syphilis, gonorrhea, etc.

Get STD tests done to detect sexually transmitted disease. If reports are positive you will be treated with antibiotics and antivirals. Take care of your oral hygiene. Use barriers before oral sex. Keep blisters clean. Gargle with warm salt water. Avoid taking oily, spicy food. Stay away from oral sex like cunnilingus, fellatio, analingus, etc. Get clinically examined by an ENT, you may be referred to a dentist for further management. Get treated at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
