Suggest Treatment For Small Painful Cluster Of Bumps On The Ankle

My two year old son has a cluster of bumps on one of his ankles that are painful to the touch. They are hard and under the skin. They are not like pimples or blisters but like nodules. What could they be? He has a dematology appointment but not until November. I am worried. Thank you.

Hello,
Thanks for the query.
You might have developed folliculitis.
Folliculitis is a bacterial infections.
Treatment is with antibiotics but the choice of antibiotics should be based on culture and sensitivity tests.
Please meet a dermatologist and request to do culture and sensitivity test on pus obtained from the lesion for exact diagnosis.
Once the exact bacteria is known, specific treatment can be given.
Improper use of antibiotic can lead to resistance.
