I have large acne-like bumps that appear on my scalp on occasssion. The size of a dime or nickel. I lose the hair in that area. If left alone they eventually come to a head and leak. If not, they become very warm red and all hair falls out in that area. I have been to my derm to no avail. It happens less frequently now but I have to puncture the area to let it drain or go to the dr and have him do it. Nearly all the time I can feel soft spots on my scalp. I don t know if that part is normal but I am losing some hair and I wonder if this is symptom of a larger problem.
Welcome to healthcaremagic.com I have read your query in detail and can well understand your concern.
In the absence of a picture, it is very difficult to comment but from your question it seems like your symptoms could be due to tinea capitis, or fungal infection of the scalp. If the hair are easily pluckable from that area, it is more probable.
Based on clinical examination, you can be prescribed a course of antifungal medication and cream/ lotion which will help to get rid of this problem.
Hope this helps.
