Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mom (85 yrs old) has a clear, small blister that almost looks like something you get when you burn yourself on the underside of her top lip, almost at the area where the top lip meets the bottom lip. It also looks dark on the inside under the clear/cloudy fluid. She said it doesn t hurt.
As per your query small blister on meeting line of upper and lower lip in your mom could be because of several reasons. First of all i need to know the duration of time i.e it is there since when. On the basis of that i can make out a proper diagnosis.
If its of very short duration around 5-6 days then its cold sores/ oral herpes infection which is a viral infection due to decreases immunity and age related factor. Treatment for that would be antiviral drugs such as Acyclovir, Famicyclovir. Drink plenty of water and take multivitamin tablet rich in vitamin B12.
If its chronic and completely painless then it could be because of oral lichen planus. Need not to worry about that , visit dermatologist once and your mom can go for PUVA therapy. Hope your concern has been resolved.
