Suggest Treatment For Sleeplessness Despite Taking NyQuil

I taken NyQuil around four hours ago and still cant sleep. They gave me a steroid shot to help relieve some symptoms of my cold so that may be the reason. I also have taken a half milligram of kolonopin would it be safe to try ten milligrams of melatonin on top of that?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is safe to take 5mg of melatonin, despite clonazepam, but I don't think that it will help. For this reason, I recommend taking 1mg of lorazepam or increase the dose of clonazepam to 1mg before sleep.

Melatonin can help regulate your normal sleep cycle, but it is not so powerful compared to clonazepam.

Anyway, the situation is temporary and I am pretty sure that everything will be OK in a couple of weeks. I would also recommend trying to regulate your sleeping hygiene (try to sleep at the same time every day, avoid caffeine intake).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Aida Quka
