About 5 days ago accidentally scratched myself while I was wiping after going pee. A few days later I noticed I started swelling down there. When I took a closer look I realized that the scratch had turned into 3 liitle spots that look like a canker sore. So I cleaned it with antibacterial soap diluted with warm water. The next morning it felt so swollen I could barely walk. I took another look and it had grown into one canker sore about the size of your finger tip. I waited a day hoping it would settle down, using lidocaine cream to take the edge off the pain so I can at least work. Today I saw the doctor and I tested positive for strep but unfortunately this clinic does not do anything for down stair problems. I was put on a strong antibiotic (Augmentin) for the strep. I have recently had my well womens apt and all STD test have came back negative and I have not had any sexual activity since the check up. I do get canker sores in my mouth every so often along with cold sores on my lip and nose area. Is there anything I can do to help the speed of recovery? How long does this type of thing usually last? Will the antibiotic I was prescribed help or make it worse?
