Suggest Treatment For Sinus Infection And Flu

I got sick a couple months ago with flu bug going around. I ended up with what seemed like a sinus infection that ended up in both of ears. It is quite swollen on both sides under my ears and jaw and pressure and pain in back of my head at the base of my skull. It has been like this for almost 4 weeks now. I went to the Dr. and he gave a Zpak 5 day antibiotic. That was 9 days ago and has not appeared to have helped at all. What is the next step?

Hi,

Yes, it can be a sinus infection and the symptoms that you are facing looks similar to sinusitis. So my suggestion is that along with antibiotic you also need decongestants and painkillers for reducing the symptoms.

You can consult an ENT Physician and get evaluated and you can be advised sinus X-ray for confirming the diagnosis.

In case if it is due to sinusitis then you can be advised another course of Antibiotics and along with it, you can be advised decongestant nasal sprays containing Xylometazoline or Oxymetazoline. Put saline nasal drops, do steam inhalation. Drink warm water and avoid spicy and irritant foods.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
