Suggest Treatment For Side Effects Of Zicam

I have severe sinus congestion due to prolonged (about 2 weeks) use of zicam. Been trying saline spray, steam, and sudafed pe but nothing is helping and I really don t want to use zicam anymore because I ve lost sense of smell and much of my sense of taste. My symptoms are much worse now that I ve stopped using the zicam and I m sure it s the cause. The pressure in my head is awful, frequent head and ear aches, and my mouth is so dry( in the mornings it feels like leather) from having to be a mouth breather . Is there any way I can take care of this awful issue without a dr.visit?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you have a sinus infection leading to symptoms of congestion leading to loss of taste and smell as both these senses are inter-related..
You will have to make a doctor's visit as it is necessary for you to get evaluated..
So in my advise you should consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and he can also advise you PNS view x Ray of the sinuses to look for the problem associated with the symptoms..
He can advise you a course of antibiotics like Azithromycin, anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, decongestant like Phenylephrine, Steroid nasal spray, decongestant nasal spray like Xylometazoline, steam inhalation and saline nasal irrigation..
Avoid chilled and spicy food and do warm compresses around nose and forehead..
