Suggest Treatment For Side Effects Of Gabapentin

Hello. I am currently taking gabapentin for neuropathic pain. About 12 of the side effects have started to become a problem for me. I take 600mg x 3 per day. Previously I was on 1200 mg x 3, side effects were unacceptable to me so we dropped the dosage by 50%. My question is this... What effect will a reduced dosage = am 600mg, lunch 300 mg and pm 600mg be? Will I notice a difference in the nerve pain? Nerve pain only disappeared when I was taking the 3 x 1200mg dosage. Looking forward to your comments and expertise regarding this query. Regards, Suzanne

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Everyone is different. Sometimes when the nerve pain gets controlled, you can drop the dose and the pain is still controlled. In other patients the pain comes back with a drop in dose. You will just have to wait and see if your pain returns of not.
Regards
