Suggest Treatment For Side Effects Of Emanzen D

Hello, a GP prescribed Emanzen D to my mother to relieve her mildly swollen lymphatic node in her neck. She said it was an inflammation and she gave an anti inflammatory medicine. However after taking just one dose, my mom developed allergic reaction to the med. Her face, eyes and lips have swollen up. The GP is not reachable!! What should we do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Suggestive of drug-induced angioedema. Had I been her treating doctor I would have advised her injection chlorpheneramine maleate and injection hydrocortisone for immediate relief of angioedema.

If that is not possible you may give her tablet chlorpheneramine maleate till you find the ways to reach out to the hospital.

She must stop taking Emanzen D and let her GP prescribe an alternate effective but safer medication for her swollen lymph node in the neck.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
