Suggest Treatment For Shortness Of Breath, Pain In Chest And Cough

Hi, about a week ago I had a cold and began experiencing shortness of breath on and off. Yesterday it got worse and I was consistently short of breath all night. When I do take a full breath I have a sudden piercing pain in the center of my chest. I have also developed a pretty bad cough. I used a humidifier last night and that helped a little bit, but now tonight I m having trouble taking a full breath again. Any idea what my issue might be or suggestions? thanks!

Hello,
It sounds like your cold may have developed into something more serious. I would recommend you have a doctor listen to your lungs and get a chest x-ray and perhaps some blood work. While it may be simple things such as inflammation, strained chest muscles or mucous plugging that are contributing to your symptoms, it is certainly possible that you have developed a pneumonia, especially if you also have a fever. I hope you recover soon!
