Suggest Treatment For Shortness Of Breath And Cough
I have had a gurgle that turns into a cough since June along with heart palpitations, and shortness of breath during activity. I had my heart monitored which came back fine and several blood tests. My thyroid was not functioning properly, so they prescribed medicine for that. After taking the med for a few weeks, the palpitations when away....but now...two months later they re back again with the cough. I called and had another blood test. My thyroid is 1.6 now, so they say it looks fine. I am a 51 year old woman. Is this just menopause related?
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic. I can understand your concern. Yes all these are mostly related to hormonal changes in menopause. Stress, anxiety and mood swings are common causes for breathlessness during menopausal period. But better to rule out Pulmonary cause (bronchitis) for your symptoms. So get done PFT (Pulmonary Function Test). If this is normal then your symptoms are mostly due to hormonal imbalance induced stress and anxiety. So consult gynecologist and get done hormone levels. You may need Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and anxiolytic drug. Hope I have solved your query. Wish you good health. Thanks
