Suggest Treatment For Shortness Of Breath After Bulla Removed

My mom had a bulla removed about 5 months ago and since her breathing has gotten worst. When she sits her oxygen is good, but now just sitting she starts to feel really bad in her head. She says she feels weird and really sick. If she walks to kitchen her oxygen drops dramatically.

May i have some advise?
thanks

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello,

In my opinion, your mother is mostly having COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), which is causing breathing difficulty on minimal exertion. So better to consult a pulmonologist and get done a clinical examination of the respiratory system and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).

Pulmonary function tests (PFT) will not only diagnose COPD, but it will also tell you about the severity of the disease and treatment is based on severity only. She will need inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (budesonide or fluticasone). Don't worry, she will be alright with all these.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar
