Suggest Treatment For Shingles And Numbness In Penis And Scrotum

I was diagnosed with shingles a week ago and have been going through the standard treatment which seems to be working. In the last few days i have been noticing a numbness of the penis and scrotum area as well as a numbness on the sole of my left foot. Is this related to the shingles and will it eventually go away?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I don't believe this can be related to shingles. It can be related to isciatica or a herniated disc on spine causing a compression on the nerves roots coming out of the spine. Use anti-inflammatory drugs such ibuprofen or naproxen for pain and inflammation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka
