Suggest Treatment For Sharp Pain In The Buttocks

I am dealing with a sharp pain from my buttock down the left side of my leg. It happened one week ago a couple hours after an exercise class at the YMCA for individuals with arthritis. Could it be sciatica? I have been taking 16 milligrams of ibuprofen and 2 acetophin caplets for pain for my left knee that has been diagnosed with end stage osteoarthritis, so am wondering about this new pain on my left leg. I am scheduled to be rechecked by my primary care physician next week but am wondering if I should see her sooner. The pain is lessening on the left leg and I haven t returned to my arthritis class - so am also wondering about exercising and if there s other pain medications that might provide relief for both conditions.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Welcome.
I have gone through your query.

Presently I would suggest you to try alternating ice and heat on your back. Ice will help reduce inflammation and heat may help improve blood flow.
I would have prescribed you aceclofenac + thiocochicoside combination two times a day for three days. Along with this application of analgesic gel or spray to the affected area would be beneficial. Avoid pushing and pulling of heavy objects. With this measures you should be fine.

This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor./orthopedician.

I hope this suggestion might be of some help to you.
Take care.
