General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Cough takes long to heal but choking sensation needs a review: -Possibility of developing bronchitis needs to be explored to find the cause and specific treatment -May be you had antibiotics which do not affect your infection (in such case you need culture and sensitivity of sputum) You need to discuss these with your treating doctor and get exact suitable solution. Till then, continue with cough syrup prescribed. Drink hot water. Do hot saline gargles. Avoid exposure to cold (A/C), allergens etc.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
