Suggest Treatment For Severe Throat Infection

Hi,m 40,n I ve been having this throat infection for four weeks now.I went to the doctor he gave me antibiotics that made me sick,I went back to him n he changed them for me but it seems as they not working,as m talking m still having it can u please help it s starting to stress me now.

Hi dear ,

There is nothing to panic , because if antibiotics are not working that clearly means that sore throat is probably due to viral infection . I would suggest you to consult your ENT specialist doctor again . Doctor may order certain tests like throat swab test , viral culture test and blood test to confirm the diagnosis and rule out condition like gastrointestinal reflux disease . Doctor may prescribe anti viral drugs like acyclovir along with anti inflammatory drugs . For now do warm saline gargles 2-3 times a day or take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain and swelling .
