Suggest Treatment For Severe Throat, Back And Body Pain

My daughter is 22 years old tomorrow. She came home for the weekend from college. She goes to college in Fayetteville, AR. She has a sore throat, back ache, leg aches and feels very weak. We thought it might be the flu, but I think it s too early for the flu. I don t think she has a fever. She had a sore throat last week and started feeling better. But now that she is home, her symptoms have gotten worse.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

She is having an acute pharyngitis infection.

The weakness, leg pain etc are the constitutional symptom due to flu.

She need to be given amoxicillin plus Clavulanic acid tablet.

Also, give her vitamin C which is safe to take.

Advise her to do salt water gargles and take warm water for drinking.

If no improvement than throat swab and CBC should be done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
