Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain On The Tip Of Tongue
For the passed five days I ve had this terrible pain on the tip of my tongue on the left side. When I look in the mirror I see nothing - no ulcer, no spot, redness or whiteness. My tongue looks totally normal but the pain is unbearable. I ve been putting oral numbing jel on it for the passed two days because it at least lessens the pain for a little while. Should I be worried and go to the doctor? I thought it would ve at least began getting better but it hasn t. I am prone to ulcers and actually have two in my mouth right now, too.
Understanding your concern. As per your query severe pain on the tip of tongue is because of inflammation of papillae of tongue. It could be due to frictional keratosis of tongue with continuous irritation with sharp edges of teeth.. I would suggest you to take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain and swelling , do warm saline gargles and consult oral physician. In case of bacterial infection doctor may prescribe antibiotics (amoxicillin) for a week. Drink plenty of water. Apply dologel on tip of tongue. Maintain oral hygiene by brushing and flossing. Use Listerine mouth wash. Use steroid ointment on the localized area for immediate relief. Don't chew on citrus, sharp and hot food substances.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
