Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In Vein Caused Due To Shingles

My husband has had shingles three weeks now and the pain is unbearable still, the rash has nearly gone but it's the nerve pain which is driving him crazy is there anything else he can try as he doesn't want to keep taking pain killers as they make him constipated.

Brief Answer:
Likely to be Postherpetic neuralgia.

Detailed Answer:
Warm Welcome. I appreciate your trust in HCM and assure you are on best portal on the globe for expert online medical services.

I have thoroughly reviewed health query you raised, and well realize all of those concerns. Being your physician, I will take care all of them today and will extend my expertise to solve the problems.

Based on what you said, your husband is most likely experiencing postherpetic neuralgia. It usually begins when the rash has begun healing. Pain is often nerve wrecking and pain relief is required.

I would suggest tab. Pregabalin 75mg twice a day and dose can be increased to 150mg twice a day after 3 days. This is not like over the counter painkiller your husband has been taking and will help him for pain and burning sensation.

Hope I addressed all the concerns you have. Let me know if you have further questions. I will be more than happy to clear any doubts. Keep a follow up to see how you doing.

Regards!
