Having pain in right hand for two weeks. Specifically where wrist attaches to hand, just below thumb, and on base of thumb. Additional pain and lump on lower thumb back, plus some swelling on wrist going from thumb and continuing up wrist about 3 - 4 . I ve been wearing a soft wrap brace but it doesn t seem to help much.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to tunnel carpal syndrome. I recommend using anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen three times a day.

I also recommend using the brace to prevent aggravating the pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
