Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In The Collar Bone

I broke my collar bone when I was 11 years old... but it s never hurt since. I played 3 sports in high school, and quarterback and golf on college teams. Now I m 48 years old, and the same collar bone I once broke, now aches constantly. Is this just old pain from an old wound surfacing as my body breaks down... or the sign of something worse like bone marrow cancer or something?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It can be a minor contusion.

You can take analgesics like Ibuprofen or Diclofenac for pain relief. Apply ice packs for symptomatic relief. Nothing much to worry and you will be fine in a couple of days.

If pain persists, you can consult an orthopedician and plan for an X-ray.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
