Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In The Big Toe And Leg Cramps

My right big toe contracted to where it was extremely painful and pointed at almost a 90 degree angle to my foot. I also had severe leg cramps around my shin and on both sides of the lower right leg. It was sudden and lasted for almost an hour. I got the muscles to relax by hot wet towels. What makes these leg cramps so severe I m almost ready to call an ambulance and because I am crying out in so much pain.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Many times muscle cramps happen due to loss of electrolytes. Not knowing your past medical history makes answering this questions little tricky but try replenishing electrolytes and if see if those make your severity of cramps less.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Samuel Parmar
