Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In Arm And Elbow After Injury

I fell two days ago while I was riding my bike. I hit the cement hard. It feel like I broke my arm. I have been in pain since. I can t straighten my arm out and my wrist and my inner part of my arm close to my elbow hurts a lot. Is it broken or just sprained?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, usually sprain or strain does not provoke so much significant pain with inability to straighten the arm. There is more possibility of fracture involving radius, ulna or wrist joint bones with secondary sequences.

Primary relief with:
- Local application of ice
- Use of analgesic spray or ointment with Diclofenac, linseed oil
- Analgesic tablet as ibuprofen or Diclofenac
- Arm sling support
- X-ray of wrist with arm and elbow regions and orthopedic consultation

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
