Hi , I am in extreme pain with a dry socket after tooth extraction, its now 6 day im in the worst pain . \
my left ear my jaw , all the tooth next to the extracted one in hurting , my head hurt like hell , feel like knife in my head each 1 second
When is it going to stop hurting me ?
does it heal on its own ?
My dentist give me 1mg hydromorphone each 4 to 6 hours but it does nothing to help the pain .
I just want the pain to go away !
should I go to emergency ?
can I die from dry socket ?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain dry socket is an unhealed socket that occurs due to loss or dislodgement of blood clot that can cause inflammation and pain in socket..

It will not heal on its own and you should consult an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated and he can start putting Zinc Oxide Eugenol dressings every alternate day in the extraction socket that will help in reducing pain and improving healing..

Along with it take higher painkillers like Tramadol or Ketorolac..
Do cool compresses over the cheek..
Do warm saline gargles..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
