General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You have a history of osteoporosis. Estrogen protects bones but in the menopausal phase, the hormone estrogen decreases sharply, hence women get prone to osteoporosis as they reach menopause.

Taking too many colas may be also responsible for causing low bone density. Other causes can be smoking or alcohol intake. Immobility can be a cause.

Taking low levels of calcium, magnesium, vitamin D in the diet may be responsible for bone loss (osteoporosis). Chronic diseases or interactions with the medicines being taken can also cause bone loss.

Take calcium & vitamin D, stop smoking, alcohol/cola intake & avoid getting obese.

Do moderate stretch exercises & take adequate sleep. Estrogen therapy under your doctor is effective. Certain medicines like anticonvulsants & thyroid drugs may cause bone loss in some patients, avoid taking it.

Take treatment from your GP & gynecologist at the earliest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
