Suggest Treatment For Severe Itching While On Hydrocortisone
I am currently using Hydrocortisone (2.5) prescribed by my doctor who thinks I have eczema. It does not seem to be clearing up very much after 10 days. I am very bothered by the itching. What can I do to alleviate the itching? I am 75 and have never had this before.
Sorry to hear about your problem. Eczema can cause itching and sometimes may be troublesome. While steroids are the best treatment for Eczema but sometimes it may need more than this.
We generally add antihistamines tablets for the itching in such conditions. So you may use Zyretic or Atarax with it for the itching.
We may also advise stronger steroids if hydrocortisone(which is a weak steroid) does not work.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Mahboob Ur Rahman , General & Family Physician
