Suggest Treatment For Severe Insomia

Hello,I have severe insomnia, and have not slept in two days. I am very sick. Because I rapidly become tolerant to sleep medications I am cycling (with medical supervision) through several sleep medications and other medications that have helped people to sleep. Tonight I took 2mg of Prazosin but it is not helping me sleep. Can I take benedryl? I do not respond to any less than 75 mg. I do not want to have a paradoxical reaction. It should be noted that I have hypersomnia and need 11 hours sleep in order to function. This severe, refractory insomnia is making sleep next to impossible. I can't stress how exhausted and ill I feel.

Hello
I understand your concerns.
I have some suggestions for you:
Avoid daytime naps.
Dont consume tea coffee alcohol at bedtime.
Avoid heavy fatty meal in dinner.
Take a glass of warm milk at bedtime.
Associate your bed with sleep only. Donot keep lying idly on bed while reading, watching tv etc.
Take a warm water bath before sleeping.

Sleep inducing agents like ativan and klonopin can help.(prescription drugs).

Thanks
