Suggest Treatment For Severe Dry Cough

I have an allergy attack and am coughing badly , partculrly when I lie down. The cough is almost dry I also have a thin nasal discharge.
I was prescribed Allegra 120 which made the cough worse. Now I have been advised to change to Montek LC

Is this OK ?

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Montek LC is having montelukast and levocetrizine. Montelukast is anti allergic drug. Levocetrizine is antihistamine drug.
These drugs are useful in allergic cough. So you can definitely take these drugs.
One more thing I would like to tell you is that possibility of allergic bronchitis is also there in your case.
Cough especially at night time is characteristic of allergic bronchitis.
So also consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test). If this shows bronchitis then you will need inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) along with montek LC.
If PFT is good then only montek LC will be sufficient.
Hope I have solved your query.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
