Suggest Treatment For Severe Depression

If someone cannot wake up in the morning and is very irritable then too. I believe it is depression as a family history of it. This person is on adderol by the dr, but I believe the dr should re evaluate the condition and find something else. is there any new or other drugs as well as some sort of therapy that a person can work on and become stronger to push through it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

I believe these symptoms are not adequate for a diagnosis of depression even if He/She has family history of depression. I need more specific history to come to a provisional diagnosis like Sleeping disturbances(that you have mentioned), Irritability, guilt, Lack of energy, Concentration difficulties, change in appetite or weight loss, agitation etc. Please provide more history for conclusion and thereby adequate treatment. Sleeping disturbances can be caused by other factors such as stress, sleeping pattern changes(change of shift) etc.

Thanks
