Suggest Treatment For Severe Cough And Cold

My husband and a very severe cough due to a cold that he could not stop. His doctor gave him a Z pack and it was better within a week.....but now he has a lingering hacking cough that comes on with exercise and heavy work here on the ranch. He wheezes when he breathes(sp) otherwise he feels fine. He does have a heart stint that has been in for about 7 years and does have regular contact with his doctor every six months. Should I take him to a doctor to see about this lingering cough and if so what specialist would it be for his cough
