Hello doctor
My son is 18months old and having sever constipation from birth onward. He passes the bowel alternate day but very dark and hard rounded. Doctors had prescribed picline (Sodium picosulphate) but after stopping the medicine same situation. please advise me...

Hi,constipation in early childhood is a common problem.It is due to improper toilet training rather than a pathology.Please spend some time with your kid ant try to teach him proper way of toileting.You can increase fibers in his diet and continue with laxatives. As the child grows it will get resolve by itself.
