Suggest Treatment For Severe Chest Pain After Angioplasty

Hello Doctor, my mother used to have angina pain often for last 2 years and it subsides on taking sorbitrate 5 mg ( nitrogylcerin). On 11th June 2015 angioplasty was done in D1 artery with 75% blockage and stent was put in. Even after angioplasty she has heaviness in chest. Today severe chest angina painwas there and on the advice of cardiologist she took sorbitrate 5mg. The pain subsided. She is taking Plavix , Flavedon MR , Cardace 2.5mg etc. However , monotrate 20 mg was stopped after angioplasty done on 11th June 2015. She was diagnosed in 2008 with mitral regurgitation . Is it happening due to stoppage of monotrate now ? Pl. advise.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Severe pain in chest after angioplasty indicates blocking of stent most likely. In my clinic, after thorough clinical examination of heart sounds, cardiac murmur, breathing evaluation, I do recommend a repeat Angiography for the final diagnosis and cure accordingly. If you can share her latest reports of 2 D echo and angiography, I can definitely help you in this regard for further guidelines.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
