Suggest Treatment For Severe Chest Congestion And Cough

self medicated for cold and cough symptoms the beginning of November (Mucinex, Flonase) When no better in a week, went to Urgent Care. Rx for Amoxicillin and to continue Flonase. When no better called my PCP, could not be seen, referred to COPCP urgent care. Given Steroid for 5 days, Tessalon Perle, Albuterol inhaler, continue Mucinex and Flonase. Was doing better congestion wise but now that is back and the cough is worse than ever. Got another Rx for Tessalon Perle, taking Delsym, Mucinex and Flonase currently. If I talk the coughing is relentless. I will try again for an appointment with my PCP but I would appreciate any assistance

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

In this case of repeated treatment without success, I can suggest you do further examinations. Do a spirometry. Get tested for tuberculosis. Get tested for HIV.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Olgeta Xhufka , General & Family Physician
