Suggest Treatment For Severe Burning Sensation And Itching In The Vaginal Area

I used Black soap on my vaginal area and it burned like crazy and has caused much irritation. Sometimes itch it so good that i scratch the inside of my walls and that causes an even greater irritation. I am now using vagisil soap and vaseline on my vagina afterwards. The irritation goes away but comes back. Its usually itchy in the morning and evenings. I went to the African store today and a woman recommended me to use Dettol mixed with water to help stop the itching, cuts and irritation. Is it safe to use? I hear a man died from overexposure to Dettol. I hear Dettol is poisonous.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms could be due to vaginal infection like yeast, bacterial vaginosis, dermatitis due to chemical cosmetics, and allergy. I would suggest to consult gynecologist and undergo vaginal examination, vaginal swab test, KOH mount, vaginal cell microscopy to confirm cause. Dettol soap mixed with oil does not cure problem.

Following prescribed medicine will help you. Single dose treatment of Azithromycin + Tinidazole + Fluconazole, vaginal suppository of Clingen and Lactobacillus. Wash vagina with warm salted water for 2-3 times per day and then apply apple cidar vinegar.

Apply Vagisil cream for next 7 days. Wear pure cotton loose inner, keep area clean and dry. Maintain pelvic hygiene by using v vaginal plus wash. Drink plenty of water, eat healthy diet rich in anti oxidant. Avoid douching, chemical soap, cosmetics, and excessive sweet in diet. Treatment of partner is also required.

Hope this may help you. Contact further if follow up needed.

Best regards,
Dr. Sagar
