Suggest Treatment For Severe Body Itching Caused By Cat Scratch Disease

I am being treated for cat scratch disease. My dr put me on a round of amoxicillan. I am feeling better but still have reaction from scratches on my legs and chest. my bladder seemed to have an infection with lower back pain it is better now. I have pushed drinking water. Is there anything more I could do for this to get clear from the bacterial infection and to heal up the scratches on my body which are still itching and red?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to the cat scratch disease. I suggest to use antihistamines such as Cetirizin daily to relieve the itching. I also suggest using Ciprofloxacin 500 mg twice a day for a week to treat the infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
