General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

A young lady with generalized body aches is very likely having what is called fibromyalgia.

She needs a careful examination with her doctor to diagnose this or rule it out. Generally, it causes pain in certain areas that the patient can identify easily and is not related to other conditions of bone or muscle.

I don't think her past history of a long taking of penicillin (and the possibility of rheumatic fever) is related to her pains at the moment.

Fibromyalgia is very likely if she has no swelling of joints or redness, and it has specific treatment from which patients benefit a lot, so I would encourage her to see her doctor and discuss with him the chance of having it and how to proceed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
