Suggest Treatment For Severe Back Pain

I am having a lot of back pain when I lie down. I have been to a physical therapist who assures me after many visits that my pelvis and spine seem fine. I have no other symptoms, such as, fever, vomiting, urination pain, etc. So I don t think it is related to the kidney but when I sit up or walk around it is bearable. When I lie face down or on back or sides it hurts so much I can t sleep. Ibuprophen has been my only remedy but as soon as that wears off I have to take more or I can t sleep at all. It s been going on for a couple of years and I was having him treat me but he s starting to worry it s not my elium that is tipped but something inside perhaps. There is diabetes in my family, I am 5 5 and weight 188 so I know I am in a dangerous range for it. I don t seem to be excessively thirsty nor do I have to urinate too often I don t think, but I am very used to my body and don t know what that would be like. If I drink 8 oz. of water within 30 min. I usually need to eliminate. I probably urinate between 10 and 20 x a day. Have any ideas what this might be?

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

First and foremost regarding your back pain, the most probable reason can be your heavy weight and a bad physical posture throughout the day. Back pain can be solved by maintaining a straight posture while you work on desk or drive or read. When you wake up, just lie down facing the bed and make an arc of your body like a crescent supporting with your forearms, look upwards as much as you can and then slowly lie down again. Repeat it at least 5 times a day, you shall get huge relief.

Secondly, you said you urinate around 10 to 20 times a day. This is not normal. You need to get tested for blood sugar levels. If you do daily morning jogging or walking, then you are bound to decrease your weight as well as other related problems. It is a one shot solution and you go for it. You will be fit and fine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Suhas Chauhan
