Suggest Treatment For Severe Abdominal Pain And Nausea

Good morning. I have been experiencing pain in the right to middle of my abdominal. I have been waking up for the last two nights nauseous. This morning I did vomit, just bile. Since this has happen two consecutive days, I m beginning to wonder what is going on. The first day I almost vomited, but was able to settle my stomach. I took some tums, and had some mint tea and toast. The rest of the day, I didn t feel too bad, but then it happened again this a.m. I am due to leave for Florida on Wednesday, and I am getting a little concerned not knowing what is going on. I have been belching, but I can tend to have gas issues on occasion, and some reflux. This seems different with the nausea and vomiting. What is your suggestion. Thanks. C.

Thank you for the query.
The symptoms that you have mentioned (pain in the right/middle of the abdomen, belching, nausea and bilious vomiting) are very much suggestive of a gall bladder pathology. I would like to ask whether you are having any fever. I would suggest you to get a liver function test and ultrasonography of upper abdomen done. If there is associated fever, you can get a white blood cell count done. This will help to rule out any GB disorder (eg infection, stone/calculi etc). Occasionally Acute gastritis can have similar symptoms and medications like pantoprazole or omeprazole helps. Presently, i would advise you to avoid high fat in diet and painkillers like diclofenac/ibuprofen.
