Suggest Treatment For Serratia Liquefaciens And Weakness

Hi, I ve had a sore throat, and no energy for over 3 months now. In the end doctor did a throat swab and it came back saying I had serratia liquefaciens. I was put on a course of antibiotics, Ciprofloxacin over a month ago, and still don t feel any better with my sore throat, however my energy levels are slightly improved. Would this be due to the Ciprofloxacin not killing off the serratia?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Serratia liquefaciens is resistant to aztreonam, amikacin & ceftazidime, etc so it is taking long to heal. You can use warm saline gargle at least three times a day. Take zinc or vicks lozenges to get relieve. Avoid taking food that triggers sore throat. Run room humidifier to feel better.

If oral Ciprofloxacin is not working, you can take other aminoglycosides (eg, Tobramycin, streptomycin) along with antipseudomonal beta-lactam (eg, penicillin or cephalosporin). You should take medicines after clinical examination & under a GP or Health care provider.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
