Suggest Treatment For Seizures

I take Valium, panedein forte, temazapn, topamax, aurorix. I was prescribed tapentadol(palexia), and a type of seizure without loss of consciousness. 3 x 100 mgper day which I only took for 3 days. Twice I have been non responsive for over half an hour. I have hod more than 50 seizure type episodes and am being told it is simply a side effect of the drug. These are violent and painful and I do not feel I should have been prescribebed them, please advise of any contraindications. Thanks Sharon

Hi,

I carefully read your question and would explain that you are actually being treated with a lot of drugs. First, you should know that temazepam and tapentadol belong to the same pharmacological class (benzodiazepines) and the concomitant use is not a good idea, as they both increase sedation and increase liver metabolisation of the other drugs.

Topamax is the only anti-epileptic drug that you are taking. Aurorix is an antidrepressant, which can increase the frequency of seizures. Coming to this point, I would recommend consulting with your doctor and discussing on the possibility of stopping temazepam and tapentadol and add another anti-epileptic drug like valproate or carbamazepine to your therapy.

Hope to have been helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards,
Dr. Aida
