Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Good evening! I was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis over a year ago and have been tested every 6 months to make sure that there are not any changes to my blood count or the size of the granulomas. For the last several days it has been hard for me to get a deep breath and my left collarbone and neck area have been extremely sore and have had sharp shooting pains in this area. Is this due to the Sarcoidosis flaring up or something else?
Most patients (>75%) require only symptomatic therapy with NSAIDs. Approximately 10% of patients need treatment for extrapulmonary disease, while 15% of patients require treatment for persistent pulmonary disease.
Steroids are prdnesolone 1mg/kg tapered over several weeks. Most patients who require long-term steroids can be treated using 10-15 mg of prednisone every other day. Inhaled steroids also useful to improve PAT.
Non steroidal therapy like 1.chloroquine 2.hydroxy chloroquine 3.cyophosphamide 4.azathiprime 5.methotrexate 6.chlorambucil 7 infliximab 8.cycloslorine 9.thalidomide There is chance of acute flare of lung sarcoidosis, please consult your physician immediately.
