My 2 1/2 year old son has had a runny nose anf a cough for 2 weeks now. Thismorning I have noticed a few red bumps on his chest and arm that seem to be itchy anf his cheeks are very red. He is up to date with his immunizations. Do u know what tjis could be and if the bumps are cause for concern?
Hi. Red itchy bumps can be due to a condition called exenthema, which comes in cases of viral or bacterial infections particularly of the respiratory symptoms or due to fever or an allergy to the medicines. Pediatrician would be in a better position to tell about the diagnosis and may add antihistamine and / or oral steroids along with the treatment for runny nose and cough. As a rule please do not apply anything to the skin, this does not help at all.
