Suggest Treatment For Right Sided Pain With High BP
Hello I am a 33 yr old male, and I have had high bp for several years. Occasionally I get slight pain in the right side (sometimes left) the pain comes and goes throughout the day. Never sharp just mostly a dull pain i notice. Generally this has lasted a week or two on and off. At this time I feel generally bla. I do get moderate exercise several times a week. I am on BP meds as well as wellbutrin. Any Ideas?
Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns. Spontaneous pain with little or no stimuli on either side (mostly right, sometimes left) in a patient with long standing hypertension ,one need to exclude 'Thalamic Pain Syndrome 'as the probable cause & brain imaging to look for evidence of infarction should be obtained. Multiple sclerosis(MS) is another close possibility as it can cause varied sensory symptoms which include paresthesias (e.g.painful burning).Pain is a common symptom of MS, experienced by >50% of patients. Pain can occur anywhere on the body and can change locations over time. Focal seizures may also manifest as changes in somatic sensation (e.g., paresthesias/pain). Thus organic causes need to be excluded first before attributing it to Somatization disorder which is another possibility.
